It is hard to believe that we are in the final term of the year! The Summer term is very busy in Reception and we are all working very hard. Our topic this half term is growth and change. The children loved seeing the chicks hatch out and visit our classroom. We are now closely observing the progress of our tadpoles and caterpillars with the hope of releasing frogs and butterflies back into the wild later in the term.
After half-term we will be thinking about travel, transport and journeys and the children will have opportunity to talk about their own travel experiences.
The children have learned so many skills this year and we have lots of challenge activities in our choosing times to help them to practise and consolidate their learning .They each have an ‘I can write book’ this term which they are encouraged to use in their choice times. They can write about anything and can build up stamps, stickers and prizes, which is a great incentive! In Maths we are practising our knowledge of numbers to 20, adding and subtracting single digit numbers, counting in 2s and 10s and starting to think about doubling and halving numbers.
Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school fully labelled and that ear rings are removed for PE lessons on Thursdays and Fridays. We now need outdoor kit in school including pumps or trainers as we get outside to practise sports and games whenever the weather permits.
