Year 1 are working hard and learning new things every day! Everyone is well settled and they all have enquiring minds when it comes to their learning.
In English we have been reading The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch. We have used this text to write some letters and some instructions for a jam sandwich. We have painted some beautiful seaside themed postcards and have been exploring the seaside as a topic. We are going to be looking at seaside poems that rhyme and even learn some sea shanties. In Science we are finding out about life cycles and are growing our very own beans! At home, go for a spring walk and see if you can find things that are growing and coming to life. In maths we are exploring counting in groups and making arrays. We will be doing lots of counting – forwards and backwards and we will continue to count in 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s. We will also be looking at fractions, position and direction, place value, money and time.
