Welcome back to our final term; we have a busy few months ahead! The play rehearsals have already started. The children have learnt the first few songs and sound good but any extra practise at home would be great. The children have also been working in groups to create an iMovie explaining about the Life Cycle of a Flowering Plant. I’m hoping I will be able to upload the movies on to our website once they’re completed.
We will be reading some great texts in English, including Roman and Greek myths. The children will be creating their own mythical creatures, retelling Greek Myths and writing their own story for a wonderful wordless book called Shadows. Spellings will continue to be given out on a Wednesday but the words will not be loaded on to the BGFL until Thursday.
In Maths this half term, the children will be learning a more formal method for multiplying 2 digit numbers. They will also be practising dividing by 3, 4 and 8. Having a secure understanding and recall of their tables will greatly help both these units so keep practising at home. I hope you find the ttBlast a useful resource. Hopefully it will motivate your child to practise their tables more as well as be convenient for you as it is accessible wherever you have a Wi-Fi connection.
This term’s topic is ‘The Romans’. The children will be learning about the Roman army and how and when they invaded Britain. They will then move on to how life changed in Britain during the Roman invasion. Remember our school trip to the Dewa Centre in Chester is on June 6th.
P.E lessons will continue to be on a Tuesday. The children will need trainers every week and I would recommend putting in a pair of tracksuit bottoms or leggings as we will be outside when it is dry. Swimming is on Friday. The children have made a great start. They are all remembering their kit and working hard.
